Matthew 11:28-29
'Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest.  Take My  yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.'  (NASB)

˙Adult Sunday School class  is held at 8:45 a.m. each Sunday, where we study and discuss topics related to our Faith, how the Holy Spirit is active in our lives, and reviewing books written by prominent authors relating to spiritual matters.  Some readings have included:  The Gospel of Jesus by James M. Robinson, Radical Grace by J. Harold Ellens, Liberal Theology  by Peter C. Hodgson, and Understanding Religious Experiences by J. Harold Ellens.

Starting on Sunday, January 17th, the adult Sunday school class will begin a series discussing the book, 'The Heart is a Little to the Left,' authored by William Coffin.

Class Lenten Study:  A six-week study entitled, 'Blessed are You:  The Beatitudes of Jesus in Scripture and in Life,'  will be held in keeping with our Lenten theme.  Study books are available for $13. but are not necessary to attend this class.

˙Disciple classes  to study the Word of God - both Old and New Testaments of the Bible. Meeting times vary, and are determined by participants.

This series of structured courses helps people gain a comprehensive understanding of God, human nature and the relationship between God and people through study of the Bible.  Classes include directed personal study with the use of workbooks, video, and discussion during weekly group meetings.

˙  New classes offered to broaden our perspective and add to life-long learning...

Please call the church administrator about new classes forming at FPCT.  Last spring, a study group met for six weeks based on the Philip Yancey book, Prayer: Does It Make Any Difference?

˙  Book of Psalms

- One of our recent bible study groups explored the “Book of Psalms,” and met for sessions over a ten-week period.

These participants now have a greater understanding of how these ancient texts of praise, lament, worship, and prayer still speak to us and for us in our twentieth century lives.

˙Lenten series  held to bring the community together to review and discuss areas of a spiritual nature to add meaning to our lives.

This year our Lenten series will focus on the Beatitudes - statements of blessings. We will share simple soup suppers, then consider the meaning of these blessings, and see how they can help us feel God's comfort in our life journey.

In 2009 we learned of ancient spiritual practices by participating in walking an indoor labyrinth, writing prayers in groups, and worshipping together using Iona liturgy.

All our shared experiences bring us a deeper understanding of the meaning of the Lenten season message.

˙'What is your Ministry' series followed up on a previous Lenten discussion regarding finding one's personal ministry in life.

 ˙'Advent Study' - Christmas 2009
'Living Faithfully in the Public Square,' will begin on Thursday, November 12th at 6:00 p.m., and continue each Thursday through December 17th. As we prepare for Christmas, we will move beyond the manger into the public square where Jesus was to meet his greatest challenges. Through study and discussion we will seek to define the common good, reaffirm the importance of persons of faith in the public square, and rediscover our civic membership.  Study books are $10 - helpful but not required.  You may register on line, or call the church office.

Please check our calendar for available classes, or contact the Church.
